Intuitive Collaging

Intuitive collaging is piecing together your thoughts and emotions intuitively through images and words that you are immediately drawn to or compelled by. Often the final collage is abstract, expressive, and utterly unique. Collaging in general is quite an unrestrictive medium, and allows complete freedom to those who are not skilled in drawing, painting, or photography. As long as you know what catches your eye and where it should be pasted on the page, you are qualified to try your hand at collaging.

Collaging is fascinating because it has not changed much over time, except in the increase of media and pictures available today. You can pick up cheap or free magazines and newspapers almost anywhere and use them in collaging. I find magazine collaging to be particularly helpful in finding your style of art, your preference of color, and type of imagery.

Intuitive collaging can be applied graphically with photos too. Below is a collage I made called “Looking”.
